"I was in need of a new roof due to an extreme hail storm that came through our area... Tasha from The Arizona Roof Co was very professional, answered all of my questions and made the entire process/experience great! ... the workers were here early, worked quickly, and finished the roof in one day, and cleared all debris."

Hail damage and insurance

Hail damage on tile roofs is easy to miss from the ground

Most Valley homes have concrete tile. Hail can crack, chip or slip tiles, and one broken tile can let water reach the underlayment below. Our inspection checks tiles, ridge caps, underlayment, flashing, vents and gutters, and you get photos of everything we find.

Not every cracked tile is storm damage. Age, foot traffic and earlier repairs crack tile too. We'll tell you what we believe is storm-related, and your insurer makes the coverage decision.

How the insurance repair process works

You stay in charge of your claim. We handle the roofing side.

  1. Inspect and document

ARC: inspects the roof, photographs every finding and recommends a next step.

You: book a time and tell us about any leaks.

  2. Prepare the repair info

ARC: writes a detailed, line-item repair estimate with photos and code notes.

You: decide whether to file, and open the claim if you do.

  3. Coordinate next steps

ARC, with your permission, at no charge: meets your adjuster, answers scope questions, submits supplement requests.

You: stay the decision-maker. Your insurer decides coverage.

  4. Complete the work

ARC: after the claim decision and your signed agreement, pulls permits, completes the work and passes final inspection.

You: choose materials and pay your deductible directly.

Arizona law lets you cancel a storm repair contract within 4 business days of signing, or within 72 hours after a claim denial. Roofers can't negotiate claim settlements; that's the role of a licensed public adjuster. More on roof insurance claims

Questions

Hail and insurance FAQ

Does homeowners insurance cover hail damage to my roof in Arizona?

Many Arizona homeowners policies cover sudden damage from hail and wind, but coverage depends on your policy, your deductible and the condition of the roof. Your insurance company makes the coverage decision. Our job is to show clearly what we found on your roof.

Should I call my insurance company or a roofer first?

Either order is fine. Many homeowners book an inspection first so they know whether there is storm damage before they decide to file. If you do file, you open the claim with your insurer and we provide our photos and estimate.

Can you negotiate my claim or cover my deductible?

No. Under Arizona law (A.R.S. 32-1158.02) a roofing contractor may not negotiate a claim settlement for you, promise coverage, or pay, waive or rebate a deductible. With your permission we can talk with your insurer about the repair scope at no charge. If you want someone to negotiate on your behalf, that is the role of a licensed public adjuster. Learn more about working with a public adjuster.

Can I cancel a storm repair contract?

Yes. Arizona law lets you cancel a storm-related roofing contract for any reason within 4 business days of signing, and within 72 hours after your insurer notifies you that the claim was denied.

Can hail damage a flat or foam roof?

Yes. Hail can crack the coating on a foam roof, puncture membrane roofs and dent AC units, vents and skylights, and most of it cannot be seen from the ground. We inspect residential and commercial flat roofs. Read what the October storms mean for flat roofs.

Is the inspection really free?

Yes. The inspection and estimate are free with no obligation. You get photos of what we find and a plain recommendation, including when nothing needs to be done.
